Hey there, fabulous fans of Utah Family Photography! If you’re anything like me, you’re constantly on the hunt for the next epic family adventure and, of course, the perfect family picture location in Utah to capture those precious moments. Well, let me tell you, I’ve found THE spot that’s going to make your family photos pop like never before.
Picture this: a carpet of vibrant wildflowers, stretching as far as the eye can see, nestled amidst the majestic mountains of Utah and up Little Cottonwood Canyon. Can you say “Instagram gold”? That’s right – I’m talking about the breathtaking beauty of Utah’s wildflower season, and trust me, you do not want to miss out.
As a seasoned family photographer here in Utah, I’ve scouted out the absolute best locations for capturing those picture-perfect moments, and let me tell you, nothing quite compares to the magic of wildflowers in full bloom. But here’s the catch – these floral wonders only grace us with their presence during the last week of July and the beginning of August. Yep, you heard me right – it’s a narrow window of opportunity, but oh-so-worth it.
Now, here’s the lowdown on snagging those coveted mountain wildflower shots: timing is everything. Because these blooms are such a hot ticket item, the Forest Service actually limits the number of people allowed up the canyon at once. Trust me, I’ve had clients wait over an hour just to get through the line – talk about dedication, am I right?
But don’t worry – I’ve got a few tricks up my sleeve for beating the crowds. For starters, aim to schedule your session during the week, ideally a couple of hours before sunset. Not only will you avoid the masses, but you’ll also be treated to some seriously dreamy golden hour lighting that’ll make your family photos shine.
Alternatively, if weekends are more your jam, consider setting your alarm for an early morning adventure. Like just barely after sunrise. If you’ve got littles this will seem like a breeze to you! I’ll be the one chugging some Alani before our session. Trust me when I say it’ll be worth it when you’re frolicking through fields of wildflowers with the whole mountain to yourselves.
Now, let’s talk about the not-so-glamorous side of wildflower season: bugs. Yep, those pesky little critters are out in full force during this time of year. If you’ve got luck on your side there will be a little breeze that helps keep them at bay BUT it’s always a good idea to brings some bug spray and keep saying to yourself that this amazing location is worth the pain!
So, is all the hassle of battling bugs and braving long lines really worth it for those coveted wildflower mountain photos? In a word: absolutely. Because let’s be real – when you see the sheer joy and beauty captured in those photos, all the hassle fades into the background. And hey, isn’t that what family adventures are all about?
So, grab your favorite floral frocks, dust off those hiking boots, and let’s make some magic amidst the wildflowers. Trust me, you won’t regret it. Click the link HERE and sign up to receive my emails to be the first to know when we’re booking these coveted sessions.
