You're enthusiastic Family and Brand Photographer based out of Lehi, Utah. Ready to dive into your vision for your images. I love sharing my knowledge that I've gained after being a professional for over 10 years! Send me your questions!
One of my favorite things about being a personal branding photographer in Utah is getting to work with so many incredible professionals, each with their own unique vision and vibe. Recently, I had the privilege of working with a massage therapist who is growing her business and needed photos that not only showcased her services but also told the story of her brand. It was one of those sessions where everything just clicked (pun intended), and I’m so excited to share the experience with you.
When my client first reached out, she emphasized how important it was for her photos to reflect the calming, healing environment she’s created for her clients. She wanted her images to feel inviting—like a deep exhale after a long day—but also professional and polished. This set the tone for how I approached the shoot, ensuring every detail would align with her brand’s aesthetic.
Before we even picked up a camera, I dove headfirst into preparation mode. Branding sessions aren’t just about snapping a few photos; they’re about translating a business’s personality, mission, and vibe into visuals. To do this, I take the time to get to know my clients and their brand on a deeper level
For this massage therapist, we started with a brand questionnaire and a conversation about her goals for the session. We talked about the colors, textures, and emotions she wanted her clients to associate with her practice. She loved soft, natural tones—think earthy greens, warm neutrals, and plenty of light. Her space was intentionally designed to evoke tranquility, so I made it my mission to carry that feeling through every image we captured.
I also asked her how she planned to use the photos—website banners, Instagram posts, printed materials—and made sure I understood her needs. Branding photography isn’t just about making pretty pictures (though that’s a big part of it!); it’s about creating versatile, cohesive imagery that can be used across platforms to strengthen a business’s presence.
When the big day arrived, I came prepared with everything we’d discussed—and then some. I always bring a shotlist to my branding sessions. This is something I prepare for each of my clients based off of our previous calls an the questionnaire they filled out. Even if I take photos for two massage therapist each session will be shot totally differently because each business is different!
Her massage studio was the perfect backdrop for the session. It had these dreamy, spa-like vibes with soft lighting, cozy textures, and little details that spoke volumes about her attention to her clients’ comfort. The room was perfectly curated for her particular type of massage therapy.
We started by capturing the space itself. This might sound simple, but those shots are key for any business’s website or social media. Potential clients want to see where they’ll be spending their time, and a welcoming, professional environment can make all the difference in building trust. I focused on angles that highlighted her studio’s serene atmosphere while keeping the shots clean and uncluttered.
Next, we moved on to action shots—her working with a model (who, by the way, looked like he was two seconds away from falling into a blissful nap). I paid close attention to how her hands and feet moved, the expression on the model’s face, and the overall energy of the room. My goal was to capture the essence of her work: gentle, skilled, and restorative.
We finished with some portraits of her. Personal branding is about you as much as it is about your business, so I always make sure my clients walk away with photos that show them in their best light—literally and figuratively. She looked calm, confident, and approachable in her photos, which is exactly how she wanted to come across to her clients.
One of the reasons I love working with professionals in different industries is seeing how their businesses transform with fresh, business photography. For my massage therapist client, these photos weren’t just pretty pictures—they were a way to communicate with her audience, set herself apart from the competition, and build trust with potential clients before they even walked through her door.
Having a cohesive brand is so important for growing a business. Think about it: When someone lands on your website or scrolls through your Instagram, you have seconds to make a first impression. If your photos are inconsistent, outdated, or don’t align with your brand, you risk losing that connection. On the flip side, when everything flows together—your logo, your color palette, your photography—it creates a sense of professionalism and reliability that draws people in.
I take a lot of pride in helping my clients achieve that consistency. It’s one of the reasons I put so much thought and effort into every session. I want my clients to feel confident not only in their photos but in how those photos represent their brand.
When I delivered the gallery to my client, she was thrilled. Seeing her excitement is the best part of my job—it’s like watching someone unwrap a gift they’ve been waiting for. She immediately started using the photos on her social media, and it was amazing to see how they elevated her online presence.
Her Instagram feed now looks polished and professional, but still personal and approachable—exactly the vibe she was going for. The photos of her studio help potential clients visualize the experience she offers, while the portraits give her brand a face and a personality. She told me she’s already getting more engagement on her posts, which makes my heart so happy.
Every branding session I do reminds me why I love this job. I get to work with amazing people who are passionate about what they do, and I get to help them tell their story in a way that connects with their audience. Whether it’s a massage therapist, a real estate agent, or a bakery owner, every business has a unique brand, and I love the challenge of capturing it.
If you’re a business owner (or dreaming of becoming one), know this: Your brand is you. It’s your story, your vision, and your hard work. And that deserves to be showcased with beautiful, professional photos that reflect everything you’ve built.
Working with this massage therapist was such a joy, and it’s a session I’ll remember for a long time. If you’re in Utah and looking to take your branding to the next level, I’d love to help you create a gallery of images that speaks to your audience and sets your business apart. Let’s make some magic together!
